You Are app alternatives for Android users

Six Little Lift cards for the intention “I keep the practice, not the platform”: Identity — I am someone whose habit travels with me to any phone.; Believe — I believe the method matters more than the app that packaged it.; Embody — I feel the same pen in my hand on any device.; Act — Today I write three lines the way I used to, in whatever app I have.; Receive — I accept that a good tool can be unavailable to me.; Release — I let the iPhone-only app be someone else’s.ONE INTENTION · SIX ANGLESI keep the practice, not the platformIDENTITYI am someone whose habittravels with me to anyphone.BELIEVEI believe the methodmatters more than the appthat packaged it.EMBODYI feel the same pen in myhand on any device.ACTToday I write three linesthe way I used to, inwhatever app I have.RECEIVEI accept that a good toolcan be unavailable to me.RELEASEI let the iPhone-only appbe someone else’s.

A six-card deck for “I keep the practice, not the platform”, the example this post uses.

You Are is an iPhone app, and there is no Android version. If you have seen it recommended, tried the link from an Android phone and landed nowhere, this post is the answer: what You Are does, and which apps on Google Play do something similar, at what price. I make one of the alternatives, so weigh that entry accordingly.

What You Are is, and why people want it

You Are is built around one method: 3-6-9 writing. You write an affirmation three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon and nine times at night, and the app gives you a place to do it, plus a breathing reset and a custom builder for your own lines. It has a curated library of around five hundred affirmations and a calm, single-purpose design. It costs $49.99 a year after a 3-day trial, and it runs only on iOS.

The appeal is specificity. Rather than a feed of lines, it is a practice with a shape. That is worth preserving when you look for an alternative, so the question is not “which affirmation app is on Android” but “which one supports a deliberate, short, written practice.”

The alternatives

Facts are as of the date at the bottom, from the listings and sites under Sources. Prices change; check before paying.

I Am (Monkey Taps). On Android and iOS. The largest library, lock-screen widgets, scheduled notifications, and a custom text entry where you can add your own lines. It does not have a 3-6-9 mode, but you can write your line and set it to repeat at three points in the day. $14.99 a month, $69.99 a year, lifetime tiers; a real free tier with ads. The recurring complaints, paraphrased from the listing, are repetition, ads for some paying users, and no cross-device sync.

ThinkUp. On Android and iOS. You record affirmations in your own voice and play them back over music, with reminders. Closest to You Are in spirit, because the practice is yours rather than a library’s. Google Play has listed a monthly price and a lifetime price; confirm on the listing.

Innertune. Check the listing for platforms. Recorded audio at scale, with AI playlists and own-voice recording. It is a listening practice rather than a writing one, so it is an alternative only if what you liked about You Are was the calm, not the writing.

Believe. Custom writing, reminders and widgets in a lighter package. Check the site for platforms and price. A reasonable pick if you found I Am busy.

A notes app. Not a joke. 3-6-9 writing needs a place to write eighteen lines a day and nothing else. Google Keep or Samsung Notes with three reminders does it, for free, with no library to distract you. The only thing you lose is the sense of an app holding the practice for you, which matters to some people and not others.

Little Lift (mine). On Android and iOS. Different shape from You Are: you type one goal, pick a mood, and it writes six cards from six angles, then a 30-second timer walks you through them. Every card is editable, so if you like the writing part you can rewrite them in your own words. 5 free credits; one credit per deck; five for an optional 30-reminder plan; credits never expire; no subscription; no ads; syncs between devices with a free account.

Keeping the 3-6-9 habit on Android

If the method is what you loved, it does not need You Are. Here is the practice on any phone.

  1. Write one affirmation as a settled state, present tense, no negatives: “I am at ease in interviews.”
  2. Set three reminders: morning, afternoon, night.
  3. At each reminder, write the line three, six or nine times in a notes app or on paper. Slowly. The point is the attention, not the count.
  4. At night, after the ninth, put the phone in another room.

Little Lift’s version is shorter: six lines once, in thirty seconds, instead of eighteen writings. If 3-6-9 has been working for you, keep it. If it has been a chore you fall behind on, the shorter shape may be why you ended up reading an alternatives post.

Which one, in one line each

  • Want the biggest library and widgets: I Am.
  • Want to hear your own voice: ThinkUp.
  • Want to listen, not write: Innertune.
  • Want a lighter app: Believe.
  • Want free and minimal: a notes app.
  • Want affirmations written about your goal, with no subscription: Little Lift.

Moving your lines over

You Are has no export, so if you have lines you wrote there, copy them out by hand before the subscription lapses; it takes ten minutes and they are yours. Then decide what to do with them. In I Am or Believe they go into the custom entry as they are. In ThinkUp you record them. In Little Lift, type the goal behind them and let it write a six-card deck, then paste your own wording into whichever card it fits, usually Identity. The point is that the practice you built is portable. The app was only ever holding it.

Where Little Lift fits

Little Lift is the Android-and-iPhone entry that writes the lines for you instead of asking you to pick from a catalogue, and charges once instead of yearly. The side-by-side, including the platform gap and the price, is at Little Lift vs You Are. For the whole category’s prices in one table, read what affirmation apps actually cost per year.
